William & Kate's Wedding

So, yes, I was one of those 3,873,902 people who watched the Royal Wedding broadcasted live on TheRoyalChannel on Youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel?feature=yoodle) It was a spectacular wedding, and Kate looked absolutely gorgeous!

For those of you who are completely unaware (and must be living in a freeking hole in the ground, because this was SOOO overly publicized it had me quibbling about it), Prince William and Catherine Middleton were married this morning at Westminster Abby at 10:00am (London time). The entire wedding, beginning from guests arriving, to saying "I Will" (no they did not say "I do" nor did they kiss, because that goes against Christian tradition), to leaving Westminster Abby as a married couple.

I had become rather irritated at the magnitude of advertisements, reminders, and articles about the Royal Wedding, but when it came down to it, such an impressive and historical event I couldn't pass up...I just had to wake up at an ungodly hour in the morning to tune into Youtube and watch.

There was one song, which was sung by the choir, after they said their vows, which was absolutely beautiful. Well, pretty much everything about this wedding was beautiful, from the location, to the dress, to the bride, to the floral arrangements, to the little girls in white poofy dresses.

I would assume that there will be MANY links posted across the internet to where you can watch the wedding prerecorded, but for all of you who didn't watch it live...while sleeping was quite a tempting alternative, I think you have missed out...because who knows if you'll be around for the next big UK Royal Wedding? Well, ta-ta, I'm going to go grab a few wee hours of sleep before I have to get up again!

OH! AND THERE WERE A BUNCH OF THESE GUYS!! (Hehehe, I love them!)

"Poking"

"POKING". It's this weird, Facebook phenomenon that involves not pressing your finger on a friend's epidermis, but clicking a button on your computer that looks like this:

Now, let me introduce you to another new word, the "POKEWAR." the Pokewar consists of two people constantly Poking each other back and forth until someone finally caves and "IGNORES" the Poke. One can participate in multiple Pokewars at the same time even!

So, now that I've introduced the concept (though I doubt anyone had never heard of Poking, Ignoring, or Pokewars before, I still felt the need to explain it) I would now like to share a story. Now, normally, Poking is done between family or friends, but every once in a while someone random will Poke.

The other day I was asked to go to prom with someone, I said yes, and then, yesterday. His sister poked me. Now, sometimes, sisters, y'know? They go to the same school as us, they hang out with us...no. not this time. She went to a different highschool, and I've never met her before, never even talked to her...how do you respond to that? Now, I don't Poke on Facebook, not to people I know, so when someone who I don't know Pokes me, I don't think twice about Ignoring it...but she's his sister, I couldn't tell if that would insult her...so I asked him, and he said that she's known to start Pokewars. OH NO! Haha, luckily, just a single Poke was enough, and he said that she wouldn't Poke me again....

But really people, stop Poking me! Yeesh!

Commenting on Mixie

My dear friend Mixie just posted today about Epicurus' Paradox, an argument I too have given many times. So, I felt like just reprising Mixie's post as my own. I was watching a documentary on the Christian faith once, and a Doctor Something-Or-Other gave a rather good summarization of Epicurus' Paradox, and the contradiction that the Christian faith seems blind to. I'm going to, in my own words, quote him in a way:

Christianity has three major beliefs about God:

  • God is All Knowing
  • God is All Powerful
  • God is All Good
Now, Christianity believes all three of these. The issue is that they cannot all be if you look at our planet.

If God is All Good, why is there evil? Evil is DEFINITELY not good...If God is All Knowing, why didn't he see the trouble and issues of evil coming before it happened?...and if God is All Powerful, why didn't he prevent evil from ever occurring?

So, the conclusions that I come to is that:

God is All Knowing and All Powerful, but not All Good, and wants/allows the evil to occur in the world.
OR
God is All Knowing and All Good, but not All Powerful, and doesn't have the power to prevent the evil in the world.
OR
God is All Powerful and All Good, but not All Knowing, and doesn't know what is going to occur on the planet (such as evil), and thus can't prevent it.
OR
There is no God.

It's one of those....I don't know for sure, I have trouble discerning what my beliefs are...I would love to believe that there is an All Powerful, All Knowing, All Good God who watches over me every day and has a place called Heaven that I'll go to when I die and I'll get to see all my family and friends again who have passed and eat chocolate and strawberries all day and live in paradise. But I look at all the crud that goes on on Earth...and I have issues with being convinced of that...Who knows if I'll ever be convinced that there most definitely IS a God...but what I am convinced of right now, is that, if there is a God, he is not all three of the previously stated things.

Set-ing

Set-ing: the act of creating a theatrical set

So, today was spent creating the set/props for a production of Cinderella that I'm in. Basically, our director said 10am to 2pm would be the amount of time we'd work...

I got there at 10:02, as another girl was just arriving. We, and two other people were the ONLY people there. We made a fireplace, painted the now-made fireplace, reupholstered the king/queen's thrones, made a BUNCH of props, painted the ENTIRE floor of the king and queen's room, the stepfamily's room, and the master staircase. We then hung a bunch of curtains, brought everything in, and then went over the floor again in the proper color.

I was very proud of myself because I didn't paint myself into a corner...until I realized that I had....XD.

All in all, we did a BUTT LOAD of work, and I finally left at 5:54pm, in case you didn't notice, that's 4 hours after our supposed end time...

And tomorrow we go for a dress rehearsal!! =) YAYCAKES! [as Mixie would say]

Okay y'all, I was talking with a friend of mine, and she was saying how I'm really only a die-hard Harry Potter fan...and I had to keep reminding her that I'm also a die-hard Michael Jackson fan. And, so, to commemorate the King of Pop, I just want to share with you some of my favorites of his work.

T-Shirts

So, I am at odds with competitions right now...There was a competition for a T-shirt design at my school for our Service Day (if you wish to read my friend, Mixie's account of her Service Day activity see missmixie.blogspot.com) So, every year we have a Service Day where we help out in the local community. I, for example, journeyed with my group to a local elementary school and assisted in the Kindergarten. Meanwhile, Mixie was off at the zoo. Hanging with giraffes. That meany.

Also, our school has a "theme" each year, and this year ours is "Come and See" (last year's was "Journeying Together to Open Hearts")

Okay, back to what I was going to post about: so, every year we all get a shirt for Service Day, and there's a competition for designing the shirt (and the winning designer's group gets pizza, plus their design made into a T-shirt). So, I entered said competition to represent my group. And this is the design that I ended up turning in:

I reckon my design is pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

Unfortunately, when it came time to announce who the winner was, I was unfortunately, disappointed. But, I stayed positive, and just decided to await Service Day to observe the winning design. Today was Service Day, here's the winning design:

I have to say, this just looks unprofessional and not everyone works with kids...

Basically, I was really irritated that I lost to such a, well what I'll call amateur, design. What do you guys think? Should I have won?? Haha, or what do you think of either/both designs??
